The Probate Court records matters filed with the Court, such as Estates, Guardianship, Name Changes, Marriage Licenses, and other actions. Some records are considered confidential by law and cannot be opened for public inspection. These include Adoption, Mental Illness, and Developmental Disabilities.

However, Marriage Records are open for review, copy, and certification. You can request a hard copy original, microfilm microfiche, or electronic image, depending on the document’s age. Electronic images are available on most filings received after August 2, 1998. The cost is $1.00 per page for certified copies, regular copies are $0.10 per page, and copies on CD are $1.00 per CD.

Marriage records can be located online from January 3, 1995. Marriage records from 1803 through today are available through the Probate Court. There is a small search form online at the probate website. Give the name of one of the parties, the marriage date, and your name, and click search.
The Court of Common Pleas The Franklin Court of Common Pleas – General Division is on the 2nd floor, courtroom 2B. You can reach the court at 614-525-3118. This court is presided over by nine Magistrates who are experienced attorneys employed by the Court full-time. They perform various civil and criminal judicial functions for the Court’s seventeen Judges.
